William J. Bowers is a member of the Capital Punishment Research Initiative and is principal investigator and director of the National Science Foundation-funded Capital Jury Project. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the School of Criminal Justice, University at Albany (SUNY) and senior research associate at the school's Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center.
