African American Studies is a unique and significant discipline that intersects and interrogates almost every traditional academic discipline and cultural construct. To date, no textual guide exists that instructs students of African American Studies as to how the discipline functions and what are supposed to be its scholarly and practical uses. This book includes seventeen bodies of knowledge and develops the content areas, methodologies, philosophies, and concepts of the variegated dimensions of African American Studies. This text also provides scholarly information concerning the definitions, scope, and relevance of the discipline.
